Building a Platform. (short post) It won't take long to read. Oh, and comment. :)
I’ve been reading quite a bit lately about building a platform. I thought I had the blueprint and was happily hammering away with instructions in hand, but I'd love to know more and put it into practice.
But how do you get your readers, what draws them in and keeps them coming back to your blog etc. Please share, I'd love to know.
What do you like to read on blogs, and why do you return?

Hi Suzanne
I love reading about other writers journeys. I love reading about how they got there, what they are doing and about them as a person. I read your blog because I know you have something helpful to say, and because I loved your latest Heat in the Outback. I'm waiting for your next one.

I like following authors especially the ones whose work I like. It is also good to find out about them a little.

First I have to say I love your blog because it is so bright and cheery!
About the platform-- I think we are always learning how to do that. This aspect is more about finding our nitch. Like our stamp. I'm still finding mine. I'm concentrating a lot on changing my blog/website to fit the SFR (sc-fi-romance) stories I'm publishing at this time. Before, my sites were more generic romance. Is that sort of what you mean? I know there is a lot more to this platform thing!
Thank you Tarnya, and Shirley.
Kaye, also. :) Kaye it's about building a network, like twitter, facebook etc, to get your name out there. I think I'm stumbling but some do know me. :) Thanks for stopping by.
I have my answer Kaye.
Great writing. Yah!!! The key is great writing...and the rest if set up will slip into place. Phew, now I can rest a little easier. :)
For me, I follow a blog with consistency and variety. I hate waiting weeks for a person to post a new blog entry and there for will forget about them. I also get annoyed when they talk about the same thing over and over. Blogging isn’t all about writing, I like learning about people’s personal lives. Your blog is fun, I don’t think you have anything to stress over.
Oh thank you Angellna. Does that mean I can go and have a wine now. :) Phew. :)
Ta. :) And I want to say thank you, everyone who takes the few moments to comment. I think it means a lot to others, it does to me. :) Forever indebeted.
Oppps I really do know how to spell your name. You see these fingers have a mind of their own. Blastered b... little things. :) sorry. :)
What brings readers?
Voice, content, interaction. And what Angelina said about consistency. Kaye was also right about carving a specific niche.
I don't try to be all things to all people. I can only be myself. Eventually word spreads that there's this quirky old lady who writes spicy science fiction and fantasy, and voila, you have a readership. LOL.
Thank you Maria,
I am myself. I'd find it terribly hard to be anyone else.
