Today is
Remembrance Day in Australia. It's a time when we all stop and remember those
who fought and died in World War 1.
At 11 am on 11 November
1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of
continuous war.
In Australia and other allied countries, including New Zealand, Canada and the United States, 11 November became known as Armistice Day – a day to remember those who died in World War One. The day continues to be commemorated in Allied countries.
Lest we forget.

We honor it here in America, as you mentioned. It's known colloquially as Veterans Day, although I wouldn't be surprised if Armistice Day were the correct title for it. Either way, it's such an important, solemn occasion of remembrance and gratitude. Happy November!

Yes, it was originally called Armistice Day and changed here, I believe.
