Welcome 2013

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year. My Christmas Eve didn't start out too well as I sliced the top off my second finger on my right hand with my Nicer Dicer. It was a hospital job as the blood was unbelievable. Anyhow, we went looking for the escaped piece and my husband pointed and said there it is there. Luckily it hadn't fallen into the cucumber it was on top of the slicer. So as you can imagine the rest of the week was difficult when visitors arrived for a few days, as I was the number one cook. They said they were there for the Finger Food. It was the joke for the week although my finger ached like crazy. It's now healing quite well. :)

I had a great New Year where the fire works on the Sydney Harbour Bridge was so spectacular this year. I did get a few photographs but I was disappointed they were blurry. I don't know what I am doing. Someone said it was the camera, then the brightness of the fireworks but if you have been attentive it's been on the television and in the papers so you already know what they were like. Breathtaking, crowded and fantastic. lol . We had a lovely day/night relaxing on the grass with friends. My New Year was very enjoyable. :) How about yours?

I've managed to get quite a bit of reading in over the break. I found a novel on Twitter, one that is a suspense thriller, but wait, with romantic elements. It was fantastic especially for a debut author. I will undertake a review on good reads soon. It's called Tunnel Vision by James E Craven. Although I thought it could have had a professional edit, it didn't detract from the story. Fantastic. The author hooked me and kept me reading. I loved, loved it.

I'm currently reading Man drought by Rachael Johns. I did start reading it a while back but with Christmas and the rush I put it aside for a while. Rachel and I go a long way back from one of the first online critique groups called Scattered Diamonds. (gee that seems like a life time ago) Anyhow, Rachael writes rural romance and I love her writing style. I downloaded the sample chapter and I was hooked. Oh yes, I did buy the print and e version. I couldn't help myself. lol... :)

I am officially back to my writing next week, but I couldn't remain away any longer. lol..  I feel as though I've got so much to tell. :) As for goals for 2013 well that's another post. So see you in a few days while I continue to welcome the New Year. :)

Great to have you back Suzanne. Looks as though you've been having a great time. I'm also reading Man Drought, and I'll check out the other one. I don't mind a bit of a thrill now and again. lol.

I just made a gasping sound reading your blog. Your finger story scared me. I hate the grater enough let alone a slicer tool.
Happy new year

Hi Suz,

aside from your finger sounds like you had a great New Year! Would love to see the fireworks in Sydney but I'm allergic to big crowds LOL!

Hope 2013 sees you having a great writing year =))

Suz, how terrible about your finger. I hope it's healing well. Your New Year sounds fabulous, mine was quiet but I enjoyed it after the rush and bustle of family of Xmas. All the best for a wonderful 2013 for you and yours. See you soon.

Happy New Year Kerrie. It was such a shock, but it's healing really well. At least I can type with it now. Phew. :)

Hi Mel,
Thank you. My other half doesn't really like crowds but he had to put up with it just this once. lol..

I also hope both our writing careers take off. What's that song? Wouldn't it be nice...blah blah and blah. lol

Hi SE,
Thank you. I do hope you also have a great year, but you are already taking off with publishers I can't keep up with everyone. I hope this year brings good news for all of us. :)
Again that damn song comes to mind. Now it's repeating and I can't get rid of it.

Yikes on the finger front, Suz. Losing finger bits isn't good for a writer at all.

Wishing you a wonderful 2013. May it be a beauty!

Hi Cath,
It's healing well. Yes I agree, but at least I can type now. Phew. :)
Thank you. I hope you also have a lovely 2013, and all your dreams becomming a reality.

Sorry to hear about your finger, Suzanne, I hope it's healing well. Must be a bit of a bugger trying to type. :(

Did you have your camera set on 'fireworks' mode. If you were just using automatic that would account for the blur. Fireworks require a long exposure, which also means keeping the camera absolutely still. Did you use a tripod?

Glad to hear your characters are champing at the bit to tell their stores. :)

Hi Sandy,
Well a lady that knows about photography. :) No not on fireworks mode. So yeah they are blurry. No tripod. I failed big time. lol.. Oh well, can't be good at all things I guess. :)

I hope you have a great 2013 and your goals, dreams and wishes come true.
I was about to upload my goals.. that is after I write them down. :)

Must check out the camera again as it's not a cheap one at all. Thanks. :)
