Have a Great Australia Day

Australia Day is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate their country and culture.

Celebrated annually on 26 January, the date commemorates the establishment of the first fleet at Port Jackson, Sydney Cove in 1788.

By 1808, January 26 was being celebrated as First Landing Day or Foundation Day. It was also known as Anniversary Day, or ANA Day.

Each year an Australian citizen receives the Australian of the Year award.

2013 Australian of the Year Award goes to Ita Buttrose. Editor extraordinaire.

Congratulations Ita. You are an inspiration to all Australians. You can find out more about Ita here.
