Another few steps forward and one backward

In Australia traditional publishing companies have merged and now we are left with only four major companies compared to six. They are Hachette, Allen and Unwin, Penguin/Random House, and Harper Collins/Simon and Schuster. This is not only another change in the publishing industry for Australians, it is world wide, as was the closing of bookstores. The publishing sector with a Traditoanl Company is a difficult one, but I intend to keep at it and perhaps more smaller presses along the way. :)

FEEDBACK isn't that what all writers love. :)

I received a lovely email from an editor from one of Australia's top publishing houses stating my work is terrific etc, but at this stage they cannot take my proposal any further. They stated there is so much potential with my work but they are not in a position to take it on at present. They want to stay in touch regarding future work as the landscape changes all the time.

It's great to have good feed back from a few of the top publishing companies. :) It lets me know at least I'm heading in the right direction.

Oh I also had feedback from one of Australia's e press companies where they loved the suspense in my work but it needed more romance. I had thoughts of adding the romance but it would destroy the story, so here I am up to my drafting stage on my NaNo Novel. With Christmas fast approaching I'm slowing down and attending to other matters while thinking. That's it, I never stop thinking about writing.

Just last night I said to my husband, 'Did you hear me?' His answer, lol... 'You talk to yourself a lot, and it's always about writing so half the time I'm not sure who you are talking to so I don't listen.'

Is that just an excuse, a cop out? lol

Okay, keep safe and smile. You know it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile. :)

It's certainly a changing landscape, Suzanne, and one that's presenting many opportunities in the smaller presses.

I love all the plays on the traditional publishing houses names as well! Randy Penguins is probably my favourite :)

Congrats on your encouraging replies - they aren't rejections just assessments of that particular submission.

As to your hubby's comments? I hear the same thing daily... lucky we have wonderful men who understand us!!

Hi Trudy
Thank you. I think I had a lightbulb moment and wella lol but it's still romantic suspense isn't it? Some with more romance than others :)

Hi Helene
It is a journey, a delightful and challenging journey. Lucky for me I thrive on challenges :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to myself :) And yes we are blessed with great husbands.

I laughed when I heard the randy penguins. grinning now :)
