"Signs" A Writers Journey

They say learn the rules, and then you can break them. Also I've read from reputable sources that don't believe everything you read regarding rules, or how to's. It is certainly a daunting journey for lots of writers. As with me, I've learned the rules, I've applied and my voice is beginning to shine through. But with all writers our journey will never stop, as we learn more each day, oh, and face 'the rules'. :)

So I thought I'd give you something to laugh about as it's Monday morning here in Oz. And well there is something about Mondays I hate. So a laugh is what I wanted and perhaps you too needed one. I think most writers will relate to this. I think it's so funny. :)

"Signs"  A writer's journey.
And the sign says "If you don't know the rules people, do not apply"
So I tucked my manuscript under my arm and went in to ask them why
They said you look like a fine outstanding young woman, well educated and well to do,
so I got out my work, and said "Huh, imagine that, my work sitting with you"

Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Screwin up the rules, breakin my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the signs

And the sign says "Anybody caught soliciting will be deleted on the spot"
So I happily hit send and screamed about the house, Hey! So what!
What gives you the right to put up a the rules and keep people like me out,
If my mother were here she'd tell you my manuscripts the next big winner,
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Screwin up the rules, breakin my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the signs

Oh, say now lady you've missed the point
You got to have a manuscript that hit's the spot to get printed with our joint
You can't apply, you can't write what you want, you aint supposed to submit
And the sign says "You got to have a password to get inside" - uh!

Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Screwin up the rules, breakin my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the signs

And the sign says "Manuscripts welcome, send them in, kneel down and pray"
But then they passed around my manuscript and I didn't have nothin to say
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own damn sign
I said, "Thank you Lord for thinking 'bout me, I'm alive and my manuscript will do just fine", Uh!
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Screwin up the rules, breakin my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the signs
LOL
