Where have they all gone?

Out door movie theatres/Drive In's.

Where have they all gone? The above drive in is three hours plus south of me. I use to visit it occasionally.I adore drive ins. Sadly to say we have to sit indoors now. But a night watching among the stars cannot be compared to watching a multi sized indoor plasma screen. I know what I'd prefer, well, at least occasioanlly. :) If it was a hot night we'd sit outside on chairs, and made sure we had aeroguard on otherwise the pesky mosquito's would carry us away.

I recall watching many surfing movies at the drive in, and also Dracula movies and then spend the rest of the  night, or trip home with both hands around my neck. lol lol... I find it weird recalling how much change has taken place since the 80's.

Remember the old speakers. lol.. most of the time they worked, but some were faulty and crackled so much you could hardly hear what went on.

The big plasma television has taken over with a variety of movies, plus the DVD rental stores. I wish there was a drive in close  by. I'd love it.

Do you have a drive in where you live? If so do you visit it occasionally? And if you do, you lucky lucky thing. :)

Suzanne, we have a drive-in at Mareeba, up on the Atherton Tablelands, about a 40 minute drive away. Unfortunately they tend to screen all night horror movies... Not the place for me...

But I loved drive-ins! Made my husband sit through Broken Arrow when we first visited Cairns in the early '90s. Being from the UK he'd never had the pleasure before :-)

Night horror movies-I agree, not the place for me also. lol...it'd give me nightmares. :)

I've never been to a drive-in. We didn't have any near us in New Zealand. Actually I don't think we have any...not that I know of. They sound like fun though.

Hi Shelley
Gee that's amazing I thought you'd have at least a few in NZ. They were fun. Now you'll have to come to Aus and go to one while they are still about. Thank you for stopping by. :)

We have one an hour away. I havent been in three years. All the others I knew about died due to Walmart. Perfect size to make a Walmart empire. Ugh.

Did you know Walmart sells coffins?

Oh no, coffins. I couldn't imagine going there looking at coffins. Gives me the creeps. lol....

One hour away. Gee I'd be going providing they show something decent. :)
