Suspense I'm scared. lol.

I'm writing a story with much more suspense than usual. Okay, so after 3.000 words today, I'm scared. lol..
Have you ever written a suspense scene where you had to have a break because it's just too much, it's just too scary. lol... I have and I am.

I had to get up and walk away, and it's daylight. Imagine that. I said I wouldn't write this particular novel at night. But as I said it's daylight out there. Well it may be a little grey, and over cast but there's still light. lol.

If you have an ice maker in your fridge, and it perks up with knocks and groans then goes swishhhhh as the water pours in, and you can't make out where the sound's coming from, and you're in your story with the heroine and the bad guy is in the house, how would you feel? lol

Phew... coming back to normal now, well sort of. Imagine if I was writing this during the night and the ice maker decided to play it's tune. I wouldn't live to tell my story. lol..

Off for a quick walk then back into it. lol... My husband is going think I'm one big wimp... Well guess what, I'm one little wimp, but don't tell anyone. :) :)

Have a great weekend. :) It's here again.

I think Stephen King said something like that - if it scares the pants off you, it should do the same to your readers!

Let's hope so Kez. :)

Hi Nan, You've got a point. I've settled down, that is until later on today when I'll be back in that house with the heroine. :)

I’ve never written a scene what would scare me, although I have written a short story once that I gave to a friend and she was scared to death by it. My problem is emotional scenes. I recently was writing an emotional scene and burst into tears as I was writing it. At that precise moment, my husband came home from work. He thought I was a weirdo for crying and typing at the same time.

Our fridge makes weird noises in the middle of the night. That's obviously going to be a great scene, Suzanne. If your writing can move you--scare you, make you cry or turn you on then you're doing a great job!

If your writing affects you than it will the reader. By the sounds of things this one is going to be a huge success.

Best.
